Michael Hurst

Michael Hurst is a long-time fan of H.P. Lovecraft. As a child, he enjoyed carrying the disturbingly covered Del Rey books to his Christian school. He re-entered the realm of Call of Cthulhu just a few years ago, collecting books, reading scenarios, scribbling ideas, and behaving like a strange old man in a high house in the mist.
After many months of lurking around yog-sothoth.com, Hurst listened to the podcast in which Tom Lynch and Oscar Rios were interviewed (Yog Radio #38). During the show, they explained that upon hearing about Doc's Miskatonic River Press, they "raised their hands" to help join in a project that was clearly a work of love. If only we all could be so blessed as to do that which we are truly passionate for a living. Their story is inspiring and, feeling a need to channel the obsession that kept him up all night reading and writing about cosmic horror, Hurst too raised his hand.
Michael Hurst is a long-time writer and editor. He gained his M.A. in Creative Writing at San Francisco State in 2001, has had poems and stories published in a variety of literary magazines, and teaches English and Writing at CUNY's York College. He lives in Manhattan's East Village.
